No matter what a one's views are on the sit-ins, there can be  no doubt that it had a huge significance in the context of the movement. Firstly, the Greensboro sit-ins prompted a whole movement of sit-ins around the country. It gave African American people and supporters hope, and it inspired them to fight for their own rights. Because of the publicity of the movement, it attracted much attention from the media, and also the government. People like President Eisenhower spoke in support of what was being done for blacks.
