Khazan (Ezell Blair Jr.), Franklin Eugene McCain, Joseph Alfred McNeil,
David Leinail Richmond were the Greensboro Four
Jibreel
Khazan (Ezell Blair Jr.): He married the former Lorraine France George
of New Bedford. They have three children, one of whom graduated from
N.C. A&T.
Franklin
Eugene McCain: McCain is married to the former Bettye Davis, a Bennett
College alumna and former principal of Long Creek Elementary School in
Charlotte. They have three sons, Franklin Jr., Wendell and Bertrand.
Joseph
Alfred McNeil: McNeil has lived in Hempstead, N.Y., since 1970. He
received the village of Hempstead’s Medal of Honor in 2002. McNeil’s
wife, the former Ina Brown, is a descendant of Sioux warrior Sitting
Bull. They have five children.
David
Leinail: In the 1970s, he moved to the mountain community of Franklin,
where he lived for nine years. Richmond returned to Greensboro to care
for his parents in 1980. That year, the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce
awarded him the Levi Coffin Award for “leadership in human rights, human
relations and human resources development in Greensboro.” He had two
children. Richmond died of lung cancer on Dec. 7, 1990. He was 49 years
old. A&T awarded him a posthumous honorary doctorate degree.
